Getting to Know You...Part 2

7:03 AM

A few months back, I wrote about called "Getting to Know You" , I am going to try this again, because I learned so much about my readers, about what you like to hear/read and who you are and I think that's important, I don't want my blog to be just another blog, I want it to be a place where you can feel like you know the person behind the post, regardless if it is me or a guest post...I have even thought about a featured reader each week since I stopped fan of the week.

So here is my Original Getting to know you post ( almost 7 months ago), and I want to add a few things to it as well...

It's a funny thing, we interact with each other everyday and I know, that for me, It's always fun to know who I am interacting with.

So, tonight I wanted to take some time and tell you all a bit about me and in turn, I hope you will share something about you if you feel comfortable. I don't want this to just be a "blog" but a place where we can all feel like part of a family or group per say.

First, My name is Bridget, but my friends call me Brie. I am a 36 year old Mom to 7. Three of the 7 are my biological children but to me, they are all mine. My husband and I live in Knoxville, Tn with our children.

I started couponing for many reasons, mainly because with such a large family, I knew I had to find a way to make it work for us. Hence, after 2 years of couponing, Savings For Sanity was born. The savings part obviously to save money and the sanity part to do with having 7 children.

We own a small family business and I work full time in the business which takes up about 50 hours per week on top of being a Wife, mother, maid, cook , taxi and Blogger.

My children range in age from 8 to 20 and we have our first Grandchild on the way due in March. I have had a few Heart attacks and 2 heart surgeries in the past 4 years and everyday is a lifestyle change for me. For now, I am healthy and happy and intend to stay that way!

I love being a Blogger, it's something I have wanted to do for a year or so and I finally took the plunge. I am still learning, I don't think I will ever stop learning, but I want to make my Blog something great.  It doesn't have to be the biggest or even the best, as long as to some of you, I can make a difference.

I love bringing you ways to save, and that does not just mean coupons. If I find a great deal, I like to share with you all, be it on Amazon, an email sign up for free credit or just something that makes you go "ahh" . I want to help you plan for meals, vacations and everything in between.

I have 2 boys graduating in May of 2013. I never realized being a Senior was so expensive, so right after Christmas, I will start finding deals on Senior invitations, and everything I can for graduation.

Equally, I am also scouting for deals on anything and everything baby. It's taken awhile to get excited about being a Grandmother at 36, but the baby is coming and I need to make the best of it and I am excited to see him join our family. Our oldest son and his fiance will be great parents and are working hard and making it on their own, so I can't complain, and to be honest, I am very proud of them because they work so hard :)

Some things I have not shared, and an update on others.

Baby Asher is only 7 weeks away and I can't wait to meet him!

Now, a little more about me....I had originally never planned to share this story but I have heard so many people have been in my shoes that I decided it was nothing to be ashamed of.

My step son who is now 18, attempted suicide in March of 2012, he was hooked on drugs and even though we suspected he was using Marjianna we could never catch him and we did not know how bad the situation was, and that it was more than just "pot" I feel that is where we failed as parents. He spent several days in ICU from an overdose, and when he was well we had him sent to a behavioral hospital then 12 weeks of rehab...he is set to graduate High School in May, but everyday is a struggle and we deal with making decisions that no parent ever wants to have to make. Now that he is 18, our options are limited, and our country really does not address Mental Health Issues as it should for young adults and the law pretty much prevents parents from interfering once they turn we can talk until we are blue in the face, but ,in the end, we have to make our other children see that  his behavior is unacceptable.

Now, on to other topics....

I also have a 16 year old Mentally Disabled Daughter, who is such a joy to me and all of those she meets. She does have typical teenage attitude sometimes, but you have to hold back your laughs because it';s almost too cute when she says or does something. She loves it when I get packages for review and wants to be the first one to open them and then proceeds to ask why she never gets packages for her to review haha. She truly is a blessing and she loves her school and her teachers and she has one class this semester called "Greenhouse" and cannot wait for me to build a Greenhouse ( I have been wanting one as well but money wise just cannot afford it yet) She wants to grow things and says she will grow flowers that won't die like mom's does...which they always do !

So for now...I will end this post...and maybe in a couple of months we will revisit it again to get to know the new readers, I would love it if you, as my readers, would share somethings about yourself with me (  you do not have to go deep like I did lol) but I truly am interested to hear about you all!
