What Happened to Thanksgiving?

12:00 PM

I don't know about all of you but I was quiet surprised when I saw the day before Halloween that some stores such as Walgreen's, Kroger and Walmart were already reducing  their Halloween down to one isle in order to put up Christmas decorations and such. What happened to Thanksgiving?

I know for the past several years it seems to begin earlier and earlier and wow, I am just amazed that something so significant as Thanksgiving has been put on the back burner and not really considered a Major Holiday anymore. More stores are staying open, more are starting Black Friday even earlier each year and this year I have decided to enjoy my Thanksgiving and not venture out for all the sales and such on thanksgiving day or night. If I miss a great Black Friday sale, then so be it because I know this time with my family is priceless and you can never get time back.

I think with my sickness this year, I have come to realize that things are just not as important as I once thought they were. I mean, really, did I enjoy standing in line for hours just to save a few dollars on something that has been cheaply made especially for Black Friday? No, I would much rather be home in my Pajamas chilling with my family playing a board game and maybe just maybe venture online to do some Midnight shopping if it's something I was going to get anyway. My priorities sure have changed a lot this past 6 months and I am Thankful.

The three hour drive to my Mom's house no longer seems likes a chore on thanksgiving, I am excited to see everyone regardless of how long it takes to get there. I am not going to rush off just to get back home for Black Friday shopping..I am going to enjoy all my extended family and have a Thankful Day.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good deal and I love to shop, but I guess you can say I am boycotting the stores ( I know my dollar won't make much difference to the big box stores) but I want Thanksgiving back so for my family, we are taking back the Holiday as it should be and going to spend the day with Family and friends and be Thankful, how about you?
