Apple Dump Cake..Super Easy and so Yummy!

This will literally melt in your mouth. If you are a fan of anything apple, then you will love this and how easy it is to make.







I always keep a supply of Toss out Aluminum pans that you can get 2 or 3 for 41 from the Dollar Tree. You will find that many of my recipes will feature these. I know, many say it's a waste of money, but we do reuse these and they are easy and handy to have on hand if you find that you need to take a quick dish to someone or a party, potluck etc.


So, as you can see, I am using a standard Cake Pan size Aluminum Pan here but you can use a glass pan, metal pan, whatever you want to use as long as it will hold as much as your typical cake pan. I will give you variations of bake time on glass pans also.


Apple Dump Cake

Ingredients Needed:

2 cans Apple Pie Filling
1 Box Spice Cake Mix
1/2 Stick Unsalted Butter
2 Tbsp Cinnamon 
1Tbsp Apple Pie Spice
8 oz Pecans



First, Lightly Spray your pan with cooking spray. This is not a necessary step but I find that my cakes come out much easier with this. 


Take your 2 cans of Apple Pie filling ( I use Duncan Hines but you can use any brand you prefer) and "dump" them in the pan, spread them out on the bottom until you cover the entire bottom of the pan.


Next, take your Packaged Spice cake Mix ( again, I used Duncan Hines, but any spice Cake Mix will work) and evenly cover your Apple Pie Filling with the Spice Cake Mix ( this is the dry mix, do not mix it with anything, only the mix as it is from the box)

Now you will take your thinly sliced Unsalted butter and make a layer of butter over the Spice Cake Mix 

Next take your Cinnamon and Apple Pie Spice and Sprinkle over the entire surface area of the Butter and Cake mix. Sprinkle..do not totally cover it. If you love Cinnamon, add a little extra. I usually use about 1 Tbsp of Apple Pie Spice and 2 Tbsp of Cinnamon at this step but most people will only want to do 1 and 1 and then add extra to your individual servings. .

Now, take your package of Pecans (  You could also use walnuts but i find that Pecans just really bring out the flavors of the Cinnamon and Apples better )  Cover the top with your pecans. You will want to make sure that you have Pecans over as much of the cake as you can. I usually go overboard and use the entire package but they are expensive, so you can get a yummy cake with about half of what I used.


Now, add a little more Cinnamon. I go for about another 1 Tbsp here and sprinkle over the pecans.


Do NOT cover your cake. Put your cake in the oven and bake for 35 minutes at 375. If you are using a Glass pan, allow 5-7 minutes longer.

Once your cake is done, remove from the oven and let sit for about 5 minutes just to make sure it settles. This is great with or without Ice cream. It is really sweet and sometimes the Ice Cream actually can help take away some of the sweetness, which I prefer at times. 

Place any remaining leftover that your family did not immediately consume in the fridge and it will keep up to a week covered. ( Possibly longer but ours has never lasted any longer) 

No mixing, no mess, and a yummy dessert.



I usually reheat this for myself in the Microwave for about 45 seconds to get that warm Apple yumminess each time. You can also add more cinnamon or Apple Pie Spice to your individual serving if you prefer more.
